Bodh Gaya Considered one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites, it's dominated by the ancient brick Mahabodhi Temple Complex, built to mark the site where the Buddha attained enlightenment beneath a sacred Bodhi Tree.
Maha bodhi Temple
Located in Sarnath, "Mahabodhi Temple" is the place where Buddha delivered his first preaching after becoming enlightened. This place is actually a site of a deer park.
From a sapling taken from Sri Maha Bodhi tree of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, the Bodhi Tree of is planted at Sarnath in Varanasi. The complex of it was widened for meditation.
Established in the year of 1956, The Archaeological Museum portrays the life during Buddha period. It is a wonderful collection of various Hindu & Buddhist statuary & relics.
25-meter massive statue of the Great Buddha stands as a pious symbol of Bodhgaya. By the holiness of XIV Dalai Lama, this statue was unveiled on 18th November 1989.
Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the Vishnupad Mandir is one of the major highlights of Bodhgaya with the belief that the footprints of Lord Vishnu present inside the temple.
Dungeshwari Cave, also known as Mahakal Caves is the place where it is believed that Lord Buddha before continuing his journey to Bodhgaya meditated here in the 3 caves.
